Marketing & Promoting Your Event

Lately I have been asked about Event Marketing and Promotions. I have been planning annual events for the last 6 years and the one thing that I am sure of, is that my event gets the exposure it needs to be successful.  Reaching my goals is a key component   I am going to share a few tips that are sure to capture and inspire your audience.

1. Your event needs something that will set it apart.  Think what will differentiate your event brand? What is truly unique about your event? Remember you real bosses is your audience.

2. Do everything you can to bring more exposure to your event.  Not just to fill seats, but to express the importance of your event.  It's theme, the reason for your planning.

3.. I always write down my action plan for promoting and marketing my event.  Where will I promote, what social media platforms will I use. What and how often will I post.
Your event needs a theme, a compelling phrase or tagline that will give it focus.  It is not enough to use your company tagline.
  • Capture Attention
  • Communicate Enthusiasm
  • Boost Attendance

4.  Create a Facebook event page, be sure to post every (4) hours.  Post about the theme of your event, the reason, the cause.  You excited must be expressed via your posts.  Don't leave anything out, except your few surprises.  Post enough to get your audience interested. Engage your followers sharing some of the components of your event; save the date flyer, official flyers, special guest appearances, vendors, location, giveaways, etc.

If you are creating an event ticket page, be sure to set it up to obtain emails.  Event week unto showtime, email your attendees, exude your excitement and how you can't wait to meet them or see them again.

5. Facebook will only allow you to invite a certain number of guests, be sure to share from your event page to your personal page and groups if allowed.

6. Be creative, share clear photos, your language must be inviting. Once you have shared on your social media platforms, now it is time to reach out to local media by preparing a press release.

7. Invite your special guests to share your news about your event.  Sometimes you may have to write a short introduction for them to share.

8. Hitting the pavement.  This is something I believe in 100%.  Get out there and hit the pavement.  Visit your local businesses and hand out flyers. Ask them to share your the news about your event.

9. Create a newsletter.  (My next Post will focus on how to create email marketing).

10. It is a lot of work, however HAVE FUN!!

Easier Mornings...

So I’ve become pretty passionate about making all the trouble spots in our house SUSTAINABLY organized. Not just tidied up, because things get un-tidy quickly. But, with real thought and systems that make it easier to keep neat than it would be to let chaos reign. And coming from a girl with a tendency to be a mess, this has made a HUGE difference in our home and life.

I know for me, I hate to spend time looking for something, especially when I am running behind schedule or just because I haven't had my coffee yet.  My husband would ask, "Homey have you seen...?" Off I go searching.

Great idea! Organize hair products under the sink on a tiered organizer.

1. Hair Product Organization, my favorite tip...because I love a clutter free countertop.

For hair products, I added a spice rack under my bathroom sink. It gets the bottles off the counter, but I can still grab any of them easily thanks to the tiered design. Having a designated space also provides a built-it limit to the number of products I keep. If the rack is full, something has to go before a new product comes in.
