Get Focused, Ready to Ignite and Feel the Joy!

I receive so many questions about how to maintain the joy during this entrepreneurship journey.  My main answer is Focus and Joy.

I get so excited when I am focused on my tasks at hand.  I am ready to IGNITE!!!

No Two Days Are Alike

The chaning nature of it all somehow makes it exciting.  No day is like the other.  There is always something new to manage or an opportunity to reach for, which may call for changing routines or new ideas to focus on.

All this change may be accompanied by new learning and oh how I love to learn new things daily, new horizons and sometimes the risks may be high and there may be a great deal of uncertainty.

The risk may call for some stability and composure to just be able to withstand that much uncertainty.  But then again, that is also what makes it interesting and rewarding.

When "Life Happens" for any entrepreneur (Chores, Home, Family, Neighbors, the News, Distractions, Lack) maintaining your focus in your doing is perhaps the biggest, most important thing to be during your day to day.  Efficiency and productivity rely on your focus.

What happens once we’ve been given all the information, resources and tools we could possibly need to start creating, growing and maintaining our businesses? Time to focus and ignite!

Being able to stay focused, work efficiently and be productive are three of the biggest struggles I hear from our audience on a regular basis, and without these three things, you’re going to have a really hard time making any progress with your business growth.

Being an entrepreneur means there is no-one telling you what to do, Oh Joy!!  Someone else was giving you “to-do” lists.

A helpful way to help hold yourself accountable is to join a small mastermind group or online community.

A mastermind might be made up of just you and one other person, or it might be you and 3 or 4 others who you’ve met through an online community you’re a part of.

If you have someone you can check in with daily, weekly or even bi-weekly, that accountability is HUGE when it comes to meeting your goals.

Repeat

Don’t forget this step! It’s important to understand that this strategy is not a one-time thing, rather something you get in the habit of doing every single week.

If you get to a point where you feel like you've mastered this stuff, that is outstanding!  Then I challenge you to start doing it daily.  This will ignite your excitement for entrepreneurship.  Enjoy your journey Boss Lady, Be joyful!

To Organize or Not to Organize?

I love to organize and what gets me more excited is having the right tools and accessories. I hate clutter and a messy corner.  Besides it is one of things that calms me.

What makes staying organized so difficult?
If staying organized is so good for you, why doesn’t everyone do it?

1. You have too much clutter.
The problem: As we go through life, we pick up little (or big) objects that we don’t necessarily need. For instance, you might own a bag of fertilizer from back when you thought you’d start a garden. You might have a collection of old birthday cards or a waffle iron on your kitchen counter that you never use. These objects take up space that could be better used by other, more necessary items.

The solution: Getting rid of clutter can be difficult, especially since we often attach emotional feelings to old objects. Try your best to donate or throw away your clutter. If you’re afraid to let certain things go, try taking photographs of them so that you’ll always have a physical reminder. You might also find new places to store these objects as your house becomes more organized.

2. You don’t have enough time.
The problem: Organizing just one room takes a LOT of time. When faced with the prospect of organizing your entire home, you might be tempted to give up before you start.

How are you supposed to keep up with your career, your family and your hobbies if you’re spending all of your time cleaning? Unfortunately, when your home is disorganized, you work less efficiently, giving you even less free time. It can become a vicious cycle.

The solution: As with any daunting project, take things one step at a time. Spend 30 minutes a day on cleaning and organization. If you don’t have time for that, try 15 minutes. If you don’t have time for that, try 10 minutes.

3. You forget how nice it feels to be organized.
The problem: Few things are more satisfying than entering a perfectly clean home. Unfortunately, once your house is clean, it becomes easier to slip into bad habits.

You might be tempted to leave your jacket on the floor because going to the coat rack feels like too much work. Or you might squeeze a book into an overcrowded bookshelf, because what’s one more in that space book anyway? Soon enough, your home will be just as disorganized as before.

The solution: Look at organization porn. Read an anti-clutter blog. Remember this article. Save the article.  Check out Pinterest for ideas. People who keep their homes clean and organized are healthier, both physically and mentally. Spending the time and effort to keep your space clean is well worth it.

Regardless of the why, however, it’s clear that staying clean and organized is a good thing. It helps us feel better about ourselves, it keeps us productive and I am sure it will keep us physically fit. The next time we fuss about having to clean our home, let’s try to keep these things in mind. We’ll feel much better when everything is organized.

Summertime and Entrepreneurship

As summer heats up, it’s nice to get outdoors in the morning hours to take advantage of slightly cooler temperatures. Don’t be afraid to shake up your work schedule as the seasons shift.

Shifting Your Schedule Along With The Seasons

While I have my grand babies visiting, I tend to shift my workday slightly later in the summer, so I can go out for a walk or a park visit in the mild morning weather and then stay cool in my air-conditioned inside space during the hottest part of the afternoon and sneak in a water balloon fight. (In winter, I do the opposite, working earlier in the day to allow me to get outside before the sun sets.) If you have the freedom, as an entrepreneur, to shift your schedule just slightly, this is a really good way to keep from feeling like you’re missing out on the summer fun (me love the summer!!)

Relaxing, Rejuvenating and Reminding yourself that periods of rest is nourishment for the busy brain.  Then you can return refreshed and renewed, ready to...

Others ways to work your schedule during the summer months is to speed your task lists and work somewhere local away from your office, perhaps by the pool or small snack shop, for maybe a half hour and challenge yourself to conquer a few more tasks while you enjoy a different environment and connect others.

With these tips, you can not only maintain but actually increase productivity over the summer months! And you just might form new habits that help you with your business long after hot summer evenings are gone.  oh and don't forget plan a few winter goals this summer.
Happy summer, and thanks for reading… and don’t forget to share these tips with your fellow entrepreneurs who deserve a fun and productive summer as much as you do!
