Travel Tips: What's In Your Carry On Ladies

Watching my mom pack for 9 kids during our summer travels and watching too many tv shows, hey!, I've learned how to pack for emergencies.  So here's a funny story, hubby doesn't think it's funny.

I feel what goes in your carry on is just as important as what goes in your luggage.  During our travels to Puerto Rico, there was that time that we missed our flight returning home.  It always saddens me when it's time for me to leave any beach trip.  So when we missed our flight,  I was kinda happy, woohoo!!.   We called the hotel, our room was still available, they didn't charge us for the additional night.  My husband wasn't too upset.  Until.....it was time to enjoy the pool and the beachside.

I had everything I needed in my carry on.  Not him...no trunks, no sandals.  Oh man and wait!  We visited the gift shop to purchase swimming trunks for him.....$90.00!!!  Well ladies and gents, be ready, you never know.  Too much is never too much, fold small and get it in there.

First, yes of course a nice looking carry on is a must...

Be Fashionable!

On My List
Pink is one of my favorite colors and I love Chanel.

Choose Happy

Choose Happy! Choose your next emotion when you are feeling stuck in your business!

This one that baffled me until I actually did it- which is when I realized that I actually do this often very naturally, and I'm sure you do in certain areas, too. (Win!)

Do you know what makes you feel good - big or small? Maybe it's...
  • Listening to a power playlist filled with inspiring bosslady songs?
  • Going for a walk where your intention is to be fully present?
  • Listening to a specific podcast or motivational speaker?
  • Coloring?
  • Journaling?

PUT IT TO WORK: Have ideas in your back pocket that you can use easily and have them ready when a slump starts coming on.

Instead of focusing on what's not working, look for the little signs that things ARE working.

Sometimes as women, we can get so engrained in the day to day grind that we forget to step back and look at the progress we've made toward our goals. It's not just about seeing little signs that things are working, but to also appreciate how far we've come.

If you're going to run a marathon, you don't not train for it and then try to run the entire race in one day. You take your time working toward it - conditioning yourself mentally and physically to make it to the end on race day.

Same thing here.

What indications do you see that what you're doing is working?
  • Are you getting more subscribers little by little?
  • Did you see more website hits this week or month? Where did you see them? What efforts drove them?
  • Have you slowly been getting more discovery calls or free assessments booked?
  • Have you found a lot of traction on certain Instagram or Facebook posts?
  • Have you started to see a trend of when you're able to produce great content that your audience loves?
  • Have you done more Periscopes now than ever before?
  • Have you really worked on your visibility issues by showing up online?

This is a great step in strategic thinking.

Biggest Liability

Proverbs 23:7 King James Version (KJV)

"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Your Thoughts are your biggest assets or liability.  Your mind talks.  You have the ability to stay focused and organize your thoughts.

Learn from your experiences, shake off mistakes and disappointment quickly.  You don't have time to stay there.

Prayer
Father God, I pray that today is a day of excellence and at its' conclusion I can acknowledge and be grateful for moving forward and the growth I have experienced.  In Jesus name. Amen

The Soar Path

How to stay focused, work efficiently and be most productive. Let's take a walk on The Soar Path.

Many entrepreneurs work from home. Some have brick and mortar small business.  However, life happens.  Most times we are interrupted by Life Happens.

We seem to lose focus when life happens and it creates  stand still moments. I am a grandma!! I should be at home just visiting with my grandkids all the time.  Noooo, I am a boomer entrepreneur!!!

I have clients and workshops, I am a speaker and coach.  I am very busy.  I own a women’s inspirational network  I am very busy.  When do I get unfocused?

When I want to have a little fun with my babies.  I have learned to combat my little issue by creating smaller tasks and being productive even when my beautiful grands are visiting.

 GET READY TO IGNITE

Most of getting focused has a lot to do with Day 3. This is perhaps the biggest, most important day of them all because it’s all about how to maintain FOCUS, efficiency and productivity on your entrepreneurial journey.

What happens once we’ve been given all the information, resources and tools we could possibly need to start creating, growing and maintaining our businesses?

Being able to stay focused, work efficiently and be productive are three of the biggest struggles I hear from our audience on a regular basis, and without these three things, you’re going to have a really hard time making any progress with your business growth.

Being an entrepreneur means there is no-one telling you what to do.  Someone else was giving you my “to-do” lists.

A helpful way to help hold yourself accountable is to join a small mastermind group or online community.

A mastermind might be made up of just you and one other person, (I do this often) or it might be you and 3 or 4 others who you’ve met through an online community you’re a part of.

If you have someone you can check in with daily, weekly or even bi-weekly, that accountability is HUGE when it comes to meeting your goals.

Repeat
Don’t forget this step! It’s important to understand that this strategy is not a one-time thing, rather something you get in the habit of doing every single week.

If you get to a point where you feel like you’ve mastered this stuff, awesome! Then I challenge you to start doing it daily.

Working efficiently: Theming

A few months ago I implemented a simple technique that has helped me become more efficient, get more done and make more money in my business.

It’s called Theming Your Days

Whether you love planning and execution or hate it, theming your days can help you do both without having to hold actual planning sessions and meetings with yourself every day.
So let’s talk about how you might implement this concept of theming your days in your business.

Establish Your Themes

First part is simple: what themes are required in your business in order to make it run? Or, in other words, what do you do on a regular basis that actually creates your business?

Some examples might be:

  • Creating podcast episodes
  • Writing blog posts
  • Emailing a weekly newsletter to my list
  • Hosting Webinars
  • Moderating a community Forum
  • Email
  • Social Media
  • Creating videos
…you get the idea.

EXERCISE:
Now pick 4 to 5 themes that are recurring for you and that, together, create your FOCUS.

Schedule it

Once you have your themes, create a schedule around them, giving each day of your “work week” a theme.

Do the work

Two major reasons why theming your days works – why you’re able to be more efficient, get more done, and make more money in your business – are:

1. You no longer wake up asking yourself, “What should I work on today?”

2. You don’t have to re-adjust and re-focus 3 to 4 times throughout the day as you jump from one unrelated task to the next.

But theming your days is only going to help you be more efficient, get more done, and make more money in your business if you actually do the work.

Theming isn’t a way for you to be able to just say you’re going to do something.

Theming isn’t meant to be used in order to draw up a bunch of plans and then not take the first step towards implementing them.

Theming isn’t about sitting and thinking about how you don’t really feel like doing it…YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK!

Get yourself in your theme zone, because guess what?… You don’t have to get out of that zone when you’re working within a theme for an entire day!

WHEN UNEXPECTED TASKS SURFACE
Of course there will be unexpected tasks that will surface that need your immediate attention; like

·      Corresponding to emails

·      Creating invoices

·      Creating and putting up a lead page

·      Time for website updates

The daily tasks will remain daily, but with theming you have to become very disciplined as to not crush the time you’ve promised to your daily theme. This might mean using an online timer to remind you that 1.5 hours in Facebook isn’t necessary going to ensure great community engagement :)

Thank you SO much for joining me on The Soar Path! I’m grateful you’ve decided to come on this journey with me.

And Congratulations! – you’ve just taken a huge step in growing your business: you’ve invested the time to learn about the steps and strategies you can take TODAY to help move your business forward.

The key to remember now that we’re at the end of The Soar Path is that none of this content will matter unless YOU put it into action.

7 Event Planning Tips

Planning an event can be quite overwhelming.  Planning an event for your Business Brand is important.  Here are 7 of my most crucial tips.

1.   MAKE IT MEMORABLE
Memorable events just don't happen. Should you have a purpose? YES! Should you have a goal when planning your event? YES! Your event should be impactful. Think about your next event while planning your current events. WHY? You want your audience to attend the next one and the next one.

2.  YOUR ATTENDEES ARE YOU REAL BOSSES
Branding and Marketing your event are other key components. Your event needs something that will set it apart from the rest. Remember your real bosses are your attendees. Your promotional page should be enlightening, about your Brand, your guests, your sponsors, your participants. Filled with excitement and informational, everyday!

3.   ORGANIZATION IS KEY DAY OF EVENT
Although there are so many event organizing apps and devices, my binders keep me sane. Especially on Day of Event. Whatever tool or device you use, STAY ORGANIZED and train your team to be organized as well. There is nothing more distracting then an unorganized check-in area. This is not what you want your guests raving about. Oh and I love the Evernote app too, lol.

4.  LIFE HAPPENS
Emergencies arise, sometimes staff and volunteers are missing in action, vendors pull out last minute, the list goes on; caterers, entertainment, photographers, I experienced it all! You learn to take the failures with the successes. Having a Plan A, B, and C is a stress reliever. Always be ready for "Life Happens". With every event you will be more confident and more prepared. Take a deep breath, maintain your composure and keep it moving.

5.  STRATEGIC THINKING
Pray!! Clear thinking ascends into re-alignment and simplicity. Until we see that Praying enforces clear thinking we will continue to do things as usual, hmm...ineffectively. Pray for your event, your staff, your volunteers, your health and well being, the venue, the venue staff, the food, your vendors, your participants, for wisdom and purpose.....Just Pray!.

6.  EXCELLENCE
Do everything in the Spirit of Excellence.

7.  PROBLEM SOLVING
Your reputation as a person, entrepreneur and event planner is at stake with every event. Problem solving is a very important attribute of an event planner. Catastrophic situations (and oh do I know it!!), may arise and may be out of your control however, be sure to address what is in your control, address it immediately and professionally.

Work The Plan

James 2:26 King James Version (KJV)

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

You can't just pray for success, develop a plan and work your plan.  If you can do something about your situation, then do it.  Stop making excuses, stop procrastinating, just do it.

If you are a serial entrepreneur it is important to be able to develop a plan that will work for all of your businesses. The key word here is "do".

Prayer:
I pray for an infinite supply of self-confidence.  I pray for good health and good well being.

Tuesday

Pray for Your Business

Philippians 4:6King James Version (KJV)

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

One of themost important things you can do for your business is to pray each and everyday.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom to expect abundance in my life, thatit surrounds me, that I am unapologetic, for you are abundance.  I pray for a cheerful countenance be it clear or cloudy skies, that I may radiate and infect others.

Friday

A Necessary Shift

Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Sometimes your business will need to shift as the market pulls.  You might need to re-visit your business plan and re-invent.  Do not be afraid - God has your back!

Prayer
Dear God, I pray for continued clarity of purpose so that I may hold my vision steady and remain focused on the needs and success of others which shall bring me success. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thursday

Ingredient of Faith

Faith is the key ingredient for the small business owner and entrepreneur.  If you honor God in your business He will direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths."

Prayer
Lord I know the importance of prayer to my success in life.  Help me Lord to create time to commune with you.  Grant me the grace to always talk with you in the place of prayer.

Monday

Power of Prayer

Over the years I have learned about the power of prayer and what it means to go into prayer warfare. I have learned key principles from the Word of God that have helped me walk in victory. These principles will work the same for you.

Please understand that I’m not saying you will never have any problems or challenges. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Challenges will come. But the problem is never with God. Nor is it with people. The problem is in the area of receiving. We also must wrestle with the forces of darkness—the devil.

By the Grace and Mercy of God and the power of your faith, you can overcome those obstacles and receive prayers answered. Thank God we have the Name of Jesus, God’s Word and the power of His Spirit—“the weapons of our warfare”—that guarantee results when you pray (2 Corinthians 10:4).

In many situations my family and I have had to pray our way through, (we are still praying), we have learned that believers can live victoriously in Christ Jesus, overcoming the problems. If Jesus is your Savior and Lord, you have victory in Him. This is a daily walk in victory.

God is better and bigger than you ever imagined! The next few days, I will be sharing some prayer principles that will help you with your breakthroughs in family, faith, and business.

I’d love to hear how God has changed your life through prayer. Leave a comment below!
